I have always had a passion for helping and working with animals. My childhood dream of being a vet morphed into teaching riding lessons, managing barns, and training horses. While I was on this path I discovered Equine Massage. I had never heard of it before and to be honest, I was highly skeptical! All it took was watching a therapist work on a horse and seeing the results. I soon began the journey to become a therapist myself!
After becoming a CEMT, I decided that I wanted to help my dog, Wren, who has knee arthritis. I headed back to Brandenburg Massage Therapy to receive continuing education in Equine Massage, my Canine Massage Certification, and my Reiki Certification. I strive to keep learning as to best serve these animals that give us so much.
Along with massage and Reiki, I have a BS in Equine Science and Management from the University of Kentucky and 18 years of equine experience.
It takes a village! Massage is a wonderful therapy, but it is not a "fix all" and does not replace veterinary care. In order to keep your equine or canine feeling their best, it is important that their team communicates! Please let me know of any old injuries, current issues, or concerns before I work with your animal! If there is ever a concern that your animal should not receive a massage please ask me and their vet before they receive treatment. I work hand in hand with vets as I can not diagnose or treat medical problems. I only work with soft tissue and muscle. I do not provide chiropractic services or acupuncture (which should be preformed by a licensed veterinarian).
Massage is a tool to help heal. Whether it's to increase performance, prevent injury or simply to spoil your animal, the benefits of massage can be life changing. I would be honored to work with you and your animal!
Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for all canines and equines, but is geared towards animals in work, those with injuries/on stall rest, and retired individuals still in work.
The one hour massage I offer is much like a Swedish Massage. The goal is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow. The One Hour Massage decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body, but it does not treat knots and relieve pressure points.
Reiki Energy Session is guiding energy to a person or animal to promote healing. Reiki can involve no contact or light touch. The goal of Reiki is to help guide energy to open and balance the charkas promoting healing. I offer one hour sessions for animals and humans.
